Jack was born in New York City on November 1, 1950. He moved to Miami Beach with his family in 1964 and soon started square and round dancing; in addition he learned ballroom dancing from his parents. Jack joined the Miami Beach Sundancers and the Miami Beach Ocean Waves where he danced for several years before beginning calling.

Jack called his first beginners' class in 1969 for the Ocean Waves and later became their club caller. Since then Jack has called for the Florida Crackers, Hi Cs, Mavericks, Hollywood Squares, Jackpot Squares, Castoffs, and Briny Breezes, as well as calling open dances at the former Ponderosa Hall in Ft. Lauderdale.

Jack is celebrating 45 years of calling in 2014, from beginners through challenge, and cueing rounds from Phase 2 through Phase 5. He is a member of the Florida Callers Association and CallerLab.

Jack met his wife, Ilene, when she came to watch her parents in Jack's beginners' class - they were married in 1976. They have two adult children, who have now graduated from college. They also have a maltese, who is a square dancing dog and the mascot at their clubs. They have hosted several square dance cruises, and since moving to Boynton Beach in 2007 have accepted calling dates as a guest caller throughout Florida.

Besides dancing and calling, Jack's other interests include piano, swimming, paddleball, and handball. Jack is an attorney by profession.
